About the site

Sittingbourne is the second largest of our operations where we also pack fresh fruit and vegetables.

Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day, employing over 500 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Quality Assurance to Site Planners, Warehouse Operatives to Shift Operation Managers. We also have a small of number of support roles to facilitate the day to day running of the operation.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Manager - Plant Operations Support to provide onsite leadership to our Operations teams. These functions include Production, Warehousing & Engineering. You will be involved in managing and prioritising the day to day focus of the team, in line with the agreed business priorities, ensuring the best possible results are achieved. This is all whilst maintaining Health, Safety, and Food Safety Standards in order for us to provide an excellent manufacturing operation fit for the future.

Key responsibilities include:

· Drive a “Talent” mentality through succession planning and performance management.

· Coach and mentor your leaders in driving the STEP values and ensuring that we provide a “great place to work” for colleagues.

· Work closely with the site HR representative to ensure effective structure for growth within your area, maximising and encourage learning and development to develop colleagues within the Operations business.

· Ensure objectives and tasks set for individuals meet the overall Strategic Business Plan for the site and that Continuous Improvement Plans are in place by working closely with the Senior Manager (POM) and your direct reports OMLs.

· Work with your team to monitor budgets, suggest and implement improvements, which will reduce, cost through lean efficiency’s, resource planning etc.

· Drive the Harvest project through use of Short Interval Control (SIC), SIC Review, Day/Night Action Boards, Checklist Reviews and scheduled Meetings.

· Ensure that your leaders are compliant with internal SOP’s, processes and procedures.

· To ensure financial budgets and KPI are set and met in line with the core KPIs. Lead compliance standards across the operations under your direct control.

· Drive the delivery of a culture, which promotes a strategy that is effective, consistent, and efficient and leverages best practices. ‘Live and breathe’ the company values and develop an engaged workforce.

· Promote health & safety / Food safety across the site.

· Support the Asda strategy of ‘saving money, live better’.

· Lead projects on site to deliver business growth and efficiency.

The hours of this role are 7:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract ending on 02/06/2023.

Skills and experience required

Essential:

· Experience of developing strategic working relationships with Senior Stakeholders

· Expert communicator used to presentations and modifying approach to suit all audiences

· Able to understand and present data

· IT Literate (Intermediate level).

· Relevant qualification in IOSH, Audit and degree qualified or relevant experience.

· Significant and relevant experience of FMCG Food Safety or equivalent experience able to demonstrate.

· Significant and relevant experience of working within a large Operations/Factory/Production site ideally within Food and Beverage / FMCG / Pharmaceuticals

· Experience of leading and working in Partnership with People BP to ensure that a flexible and multi skilled, diverse team of colleagues are delivering objectives

· Proven ability to manage large-scale projects at various stages in project lifecycle

· Significant and relevant experience of FMCG Food Safety or equivalent experience able to demonstrate site is safe and fit for internal and external audits

· Proven experience of managing multi-teams across a variety of functions (Compliance, Operations, Engineering, Planning, Quality and Technical)

· Experience of identifying and implementing Lean Manufacturing processes

Desirable:

· 5S / Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing qualified

· PRINCE2 or Project Management

· Relevant experience of working within the Supply or Retail sectors.
