About the site

Sittingbourne is the second largest of our operations where we also pack fresh fruit and vegetables.

Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day, employing over 500 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Quality Assurance to Site Planners, Warehouse Operatives to Shift Operation Managers. We also have a small of number of support roles to facilitate the day to day running of the operation

About the role

Working along-side the Operations team, the key responsibilities of this role will be to provide accurate and prompt picking, packing and dispatch of the depot warehouse goods. The role requirements are to complete various warehouse tasks, as safely, accurately and as efficiently as possible upholding the highest standards of health and safety at all times.

The sift for this position is working days 4 on 4 off – 7am to 7pm

Key Responsibilities will include:-

  • Support the Operations Leader / Step Up OL/ Warehouse Team Leader in implementing a continuous improvement culture within the operation

  • Undertake receipt and checking of incoming stock in line with company goods in process, ensuring all Label and Temperature disciplines are completed as appropriate, and product is correctly located within the warehouse

  • Accurately record number of ancillaries as necessary on all required paperwork.

  • Undertake MHE truck duties as required, ensuring daily safety checks are conducted thoroughly and company warehouse guidelines observed

  • Work with team colleagues to ensure the workplace environment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness, and complies with company and legislative standards at all times

  • Take reasonable care of both your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions, ensuring all company safety and quality systems are followed and all relevant legislation complied with, raising concerns and reporting any incidents or suggestions to your line manager

  • Ensure all waste is disposed of safely and in line with company processes, segregating waste as necessary.

  • Ensure individual targets / KPI’s are achieved in line with Warehouse Standards and Performance Reviews.

  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork, relating to Goods In/Goods Out/Picking is completed in full at all times.

  • Ensure MHE machinery is driven correctly at all times in line with Endorsement Policy/Health and Safety Policy.

  • Support and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues by providing training and guidance as appropriate

  • Deputise and provide cover for absent colleagues as required, and regularly refresh on processes to ensure this can be achieved effectively

Skills and experience required

  • Possession of a Forklift Truck License

  • Basic food safety Training

  • Manual Handling Training

  • Understanding of warehousing/store processes and procedures

  • Good communication skills

  • Flexible

  • Work under pressure

  • Good attention to details

  • PPT License - desirable

  • Prophet systems Literate -desirable

  • Product Knowledge - desirable 

  • IOSH/H&S Certification - desirable

  • Team Leader experience - desirable
