About the site

Normanton is home to our head office and is also the largest of our operational sites where we pack fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

Several of our support functions are based here as well as the majority of our Commercial and Buying teams. Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day and 364 days a year, employing over 700 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Production Operatives to Technical Managers, Business Unit Administrators to IT Specialists.

About the Role

We have an excellent opportunity to join our IT team at Normanton Head Office as a BI developer.  As a BI Developer you will be responsible for the implementation of a new data warehouse and reporting platform within IPL, working closely with the existing Finance, Productivity / KPI & IT stakeholders. 

Working within a small team you will provide the technology, tools & controlled access to data to facilitate an effective Group Reporting and Business Intelligence Platform as well as to deliver a suite of company standard dashboards and reports based on the D365 FO platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Business Analysis of initial & aspirational reporting / BI requirements over D365 FO;

  • Assessing other business impacts & un-intended impacts of change;

  • Design & implementation of appropriate data warehousing & contents;

  • Automated collection & uploading of data from various systems & sources;

  • Implementation of an appropriate housekeeping policy to maintain manageable databases;

  • Configuration & building of various new reports & dashboards;

  • Developing & improving existing reports & dashboards;

  • Documentation & training to support new reports & dashboards;

  • Configuration & building of various new Dynamics workflows;

  • Developing & improving existing Dynamics workflows;

  • Designing scenarios for the testing of new functionality;

  • Responsible for carrying out designed tests;

  • Maintaining an up to date industry knowledge of technologies & practices;

  • Ensuring all technical aspects of reporting & BI developments are compliant with company standards;

  • Vetting & advising on new requirements, promote the abandonment of obsolete & dysfunctional reports & data;

  • Facilitate training & development of users in on-demand access & analysis;

  • Manage & audit security around access to sensitive information & personal data in line with Walmart policy;

  • Monitoring & verification of all data & reporting outputs;

  • Responsible for arranging & facilitating unit testing for new functionality;

  • Provision of training & handover documentation to IPLs Application Support team / Training team;

  • Support of Training function for specialised areas as required;

  • Create new / amend existing Dynamics AX reports where required, using, but not limited to the following methods:

  • X++;

  • SSRS Reports;

  • Provide resolutions to escalated issues from 1st / 2nd line support team, liaising with ERP partner as & when required;

Skills and Experience Required

  • Significant experience of supporting and leading components of a Dynamics AX platform, including financial / transactional reporting, (X++ / SSRS), & workflows;

  • Significant experience of supporting & leading components of reporting / BI solution, (MS SSRS / MS Power BI / IBM Cognos);

  • Relevant business qualification – degree, certification in platform

  • Strong communications skills with the ability to present to & influence at all levels;

  • A “Head for Figures” coupled with exceptional analytical & problem solving skills;

  • Experience of delivering a D365FO system in a Manufacturing / Logistical / FMCG environment

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
