About the site

Normanton is home to our head office and is also the largest of our operational sites where we pack fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

Several of our support functions are based here as well as the majority of our Commercial and Buying teams. Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day and 364 days a year, employing over 700 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Production Operatives to Technical Managers, Business Unit Administrators to IT Specialists.

About the Role

We now have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Assistant to join the IPL team based at our Head Office in Normanton, West Yorkshire. Working as part of the Produce team, you will support the Senior Buyer and Management Accountant by ensuring that all daily administration tasks are complete and queries are resolved efficiently.

This is 12 month Fixed term contract position. The hours of work are: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm. 1 weekend in every 7 working Saturday.

 

Key duties will include:

  • Liaising with buyers and planners to ascertain purchase order information and ensuring that it is recorded accurately

  • Ensuring all relevant accounting reports including category invoices, check reports and daily claims are recorded and up to date on a daily/weekly basis

  • Carrying out all preliminary checks on invoices, ensuring expected costs are still accurate, querying any differences, and investigating and amending any anomalies

  • Maintaining open communication with all internal and external customers and highlighting any potential issues to the Senior Buyer/Management Accountant

  • Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure any additional charges are applied to the PO once the charge information is agreed by the Buyer

Required Skills and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level A, B or C (or equivalent) in Maths and English

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel – (Intermediate or above desirable)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritise

  • Able to use own initiative working in a fast paced environment

  • Able to methodically analyse and process technical information

  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the business, as well as external customers

  • ‘Can do’ attitude and proactive approach to the role

  • NVQ Business Administration (Desirable)

  • Prophet System Experience (Desirable)
