About the site

Westry is our Cambridgeshire based potato and onion packing facility.

There are a number of support roles on site with the majority of colleagues working within our operation.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer to play a key role within the Engineering division at our Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes and Onions site in Westry, Cambridgeshire.

The successful candidate will have an electrical bias and will be autonomous with a wealth of experience in a similar role. To enable us to deliver customer expectations ensuring machines perform to their optimum level with the least amount of downtime the ideal candidate will also have extensive mechanical and fault finding ability. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled Engineer to take their next steps in their career working for a global business with a £2 billion turnover.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attend breakdowns promptly whilst ensuring reliable and cost effective repairs to a world class standard.

  • Perform high quality root cause analysis for technical and process problems.

  • Support and coach the operational teams in resolving technical issues on the machines.

  • Support, suggest and implement continuous improvement (Safety, Technology, Process and Packing).

  • Make recommendations to maximise the “up-time” of each machine through enhanced cleaning or maintenance schedules.

  • Get involved in project work including installation and commissioning of equipment in line with current regulations.

  • Comply with and strongly advocate relevant H&S, Food Hygiene and Environmental legislation.

  • Work with contractors ensuring adherence to all Company H&S and Food Hygiene standards and regulations. Audit their work using the PTW system to ensure satisfactory completion against objectives.

  • Work in a clean, safe environment at all times. Monitor work area to ensure the workspace is safe and colleagues are following safe working practices. Make clear recommendations to the appropriate manager if improvements can be made.

Please note this role is working a 4 on 4 off shift system – days – 6am to 6pm
