About the site

Telford is our nuts and dried fruit facility based in Shropshire, producing a range of snacks and cereals for Asda stores.

There are a number of support roles on site with the majority of colleagues working within our operation.

About the role

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Hygiene Team Leader to join the IPL team based at our site in Telford, Shropshire. Working as part of the Quality Assurance Team you will play a key role in ensuring the hygiene of the unit is compliant with Company standards as well as supporting in the development of our site’s procedures and practices.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting in the development of site hygiene procedures and practices.

  • Responsible for training the Hygiene, QA and Operational teams in hygiene procedures and practices.

  • Maintenance of the Cleaning Master System to identify the correct cleaning regime for changeovers.

  • Develop and maintain cleaning records, ensuring they are fit for purpose.

  • Review and final sign off of the area cleaning schedules for the site and escalation of any non-conformances.

  • Develop and maintain the high level and deep cleaning programme.

  • Coordinate the Hygienist’s work activities.

  • Maintenance of the site’s cleaning equipment, e.g scrubber driers, dosatrons etc.

  • Complete stock checks of canteen vending machine consumables, cleaning chemicals, hygiene PPE, hygiene consumables and swabs and placing orders in good time to ensure availability whilst remaining in budget.

  • Manage the administration of lockers and overalls for colleagues.

  • Maintain Hygiene KPIs and drive improvement.

  • Completing cleaning chemical strength testing to ensure dosing concentration is correct.

  • Be BRC ready at all times and be an active member of the site team to drive standards and be available for audits.

  • Accompany the pest management organisation during site visits as required.

  • Supporting the QA Manager and the QA team in their duties as required.

  • Being a food safety champion.

  • Cover for the QA Manager as required.

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday – 8am to 5pm and Friday - 8am to 3pm

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential skills and experience:

  • Good IT skills – particularly Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Food Safety Certificate

  • English and Maths Qualification

  • Experience in working in a food factory and knowledge of cleaning standards

  • Food Safety Level 3 Certificate (for supervisors)

  • COSHH certificate

  • MEWP licence

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Food Safety Level 3 Certificate (for supervisors)

  • COSHH certificate

  • MEWP licence

  • Knowledge of external audit standards

  • Previous involvement in external audits

  • Risk assessment experience
