About the site

Normanton is home to our head office and is also the largest of our operational sites where we pack fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

Several of our support functions are based here as well as the majority of our Commercial and Buying teams. Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day and 364 days a year, employing over 700 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Production Operatives to Technical Managers, Business Unit Administrators to IT Specialists.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Unit Planning Leader to join our head office team in Normanton, West Yorkshire. The successful candidate will lead the team of Planners to guarantee Asda orders are delivered on time while meeting operational and logistics requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, coach, develop and motivate team of planners who cover the business 7 days a week

  • Monitor the placing of orders with suppliers using lowest cost operating model, minimizing financial impact on the business

  • Ensure accurate information sits within IPLs ERP & MRP systems (Splits, forecasts, orders, BOMs, etc.) in order to drive business wide performance

  • Guide internal and external teams so that deliveries are made on time if full of both raw materials, finished goods, and returnable assets

  • Take lead roles in the successful delivery of seasonal activities

  • Key stakeholder in building and maintaining strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead and deliver, IPL & ASDA supply chain continuous improvement initiatives 

  • Govern colleague training and compliance of agreed processes

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • In depth understanding of MRP/ERP and associated processes, retails link, and EDI ordering systems

  • Experience in similar role (produce background is desirable)

  • Knowledge of UK, EU and global supply chain processes

  • Knowledge of continuous improvements techniques

  • People management skills (including coaching and development)

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong IT skills

  • Strong communications skills

  • Project management skills

  • Ability to operate under pressure and excellent prioritisation and time management
