About the site

Whittlesey is our purpose built Houseplants and Flowers operation, supplying Asda with their full range of bouquets, potted plants, and succulents.

There are a number of support roles on site with the majority of colleagues working within our operation.

About the Role

We an excellent opportunitity to work as a Warehouse Key Operative – Nights on the following shift:-

Nights - Sunday to Thursday - 10pm to 6.45am

Please note that due to 3 major seasonal events during the year there will be a requirement during these events to work 12 hour shifts.

A Warehouse Key Operative will undertake receipt and checking of incoming stock in line with company goods in process, ensuring all and product is correctly located within the warehouse.  They will also ensure all pallets are safely loaded and conduct pallet label/ID checks.

Key Responsibilities will also include:

  • Support the Operations leader and the team leader in implementing a continuous improvement culture within the operation

  • Undertake receipt and checking of incoming stock in line with company goods in process, ensuring all Label and Temperature disciplines are completed as appropriate, and product is correctly located within the warehouse

  • Accurately record number of ancillaries as necessary on all required paperwork.

  • Pick customer orders as per company processes, undertaking all necessary controls and ensuring temperature disciplines are complied with as appropriate, and making available for dispatch

  • Ensure all pallets are safely loaded and each pallet carries the company’s pallet I.D labels, Destination labels and Mixed pallet labels.

  • Undertake MHE truck duties as required, ensuring daily safety checks are conducted thoroughly and company warehouse guidelines observed

  • Ensure all stock is stored, handled and transported securely and in line with company procedures, food hygiene legislation and health and safety guidelines

  • Work with team colleagues to ensure the workplace environment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness, and complies with company and legislative standards at all times

  • Ensure all waste is disposed of safely and in line with company processes, segregating waste as necessary.

  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork, relating to Goods In/Goods Out/Picking is completed in full at all times.

  • Ensure MHE machinery is driven correctly at all times in line with Endorsement Policy/Health and Safety Policy.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Understanding of warehousing processes and procedures

  • Proven experience of working within a fast moving environment is essential along with a willingness to work flexibly

  • Previous FLT experience is ideal

  • Previous manufacturing/factory/production/stock control/produce experience is desirable

  • Microsoft Office literate

  • Entry level on both written and spoken English

  • The ability to work quickly and methodically demonstrating good practical skills

  • Good communication and team working skills

  • The ability to concentrate while doing repetitive tasks and follow instructions

  • A ‘Can do’ attitude and proactive approach

  • Good numeracy skills

  • Manual Handling Trained and experience is desirable

  • Health and Safety certification is desirable
