About the site

Normanton is home to our head office and is also the largest of our operational sites where we pack fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

The pack house in Normanton is in operation 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, employing over 700 colleagues. Several of our support functions are based in Normanton which include Commercial, IT, Finance, People Team and our Planning Teams.

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Specialist – People (HR) – Fixed Term to the end of April 2021 at our IPL Normanton site.

Reporting to the Manager – People, you will assist the operational team at our Normanton site in dealing with employee relations matters and help coach and develop Line Managers to improve performance and create a more engaged team which promotes the right culture in line with our Company values.

Main Areas of accountability:

  • To be an integral member of the Operational Team whilst working closely with the wider IPL People Team to drive consistency across the group and develop improved ways of working.

  • Support the operational team to manage ER and absence management cases ensuring they are in line with policy and legislation.

  • Work with the OH provider to support cases and ensure process is followed and all cases are managed end to end.     

  • Provide accurate management information data and advice to the site leadership to deliver improvements on absence and retention.

  • Support with the labour agency relationship. 

  • Support the business Critical Success Factors in terms of attracting, retaining and developing the right people.

  • Identify short, medium and long term resourcing plans to support the leadership team in the recruitment process.

  • The role will involve managing multiple customers across a variety of shifts with differing capabilities along with a diverse workforce.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous generalist HR experience within a similar FMCG industry is ideal.

  • Experience in a similar role.

  • Experience of working with high volume temporary agency resource.

  • Positive role model with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Highly organised and able to work to deadlines.
