About the site

Normanton is home to our head office and is also the largest of our operational sites where we pack fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

Several of our support functions are based here as well as the majority of our Commercial and Buying teams. Our pack house is in operation 24 hours a day and 364 days a year, employing over 700 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Production Operatives to Technical Managers, Business Unit Administrators to IT Specialists.

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a conscientious and autonomous Quality Assurance Inspector to join our expanding fresh produce business within our Normanton, West Yorkshire site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of product and packaging during packing and before release from the pack house whilst ensuring accurate, timely inspections are completed to meet all relevant legislative, food safety and quality requirements for their packing lines

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, Days & Nights. 7am - 7pm, 7pm - 7am.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the quality, labelling and packaging assessments during production and at end of line

  • Decision and escalation of any potential track changes for product being packed on the line

  • Ensure Production paperwork is completed accurately inclusive of track changes, job sheets and packaging verification

  • Check weigh calibrations & verification.

  • Conduct accurate inspections of finished product & packaging to positive release pallets against ASDA’s specification.

  • Complete investigations with regards to quality or packaging failures, ensuring that all corrective actions are implemented.

  • Work with production colleagues to maximise yield and reduce giveaway

  • Interact with the sites operations to ensure compliance is being maintained at all times.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Excellent IT Skills, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel

  • Previous experience working in a factory environment

  • Previous QA experience

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

  • A desire to develop and  grow beyond this role

  • Excellent Communication skills
